Charles Levkoe is a settler scholar-activist, the Canada Research Chair in Equitable and Sustainable Food Systems in the Department of Health Sciences at Lakehead University, and an uninvited guest on the Traditional Territory of the Fort William First Nation. His engaged research focuses on community needs and uses a food systems lens to better understand the importance of, and connections between social justice, ecological regeneration, regional economies and active democratic engagement. Charles has been involved in food sovereignty efforts for over 20 years including in the nonprofit sector and as co-manager of an agroecological farm. Currently, he directs the Sustainable Food Systems Lab, a hub for academics and community practitioners engaged in sustainable food systems research and action.
